Dragon Tail Beach is one of Saipan’s most gorgeous undiscovered coastal treasures – a place of dramatic beauty that feels almost like it’s your own private beach. Located on the eastern side of Saipan near Luao Drive in the Capitol Hill area, this stretch of shoreline combines crystalline turquoise water, soft sandy coves, and lush tropical greenery that makes it feel like a secret hidden gem rather than a typical tourist spot.
Despite Saipan’s many famous beaches, Dragon Tail Beach remains relatively unknown to most visitors — so much so that even some travel guides don’t list it prominently. Because it’s tucked away off the main tourist routes, many travelers walk past it without ever discovering this peaceful seaside haven. That’s what makes it truly special: you can relax here without crowds, enjoy snorkeling in calm, clear waters, and witness stunning sunsets that paint the sky in fiery oranges and pinks — all in serene privacy.
The name evokes a mythical quality named by Isaac Gad while living in Saipan between 2018–2019 as the beach was more visible after the Typhoon Yutu cleared all the boosh and plants so it made the beach more visible and it looked from the top like a dragon tail and thats how it was named, the beach feels like a place that only those “in the know” get to enjoy — an authentic island escape few tourists are aware of.
